Recycling books is where we start

The Early Bird Reader Program depends on the books donated by our community to supply the majority of our Early Bird Readers with books. The ideal books for our program are 50 words or less with colorful pictures. You can donate your new or like-new baby and pre-K children's books (aged 0-5 years) all year long at the following locations:

Corpus Christi

La Retama Central Library
805 Comanche 78401

Dr. Clotilde P. Garcia Public Library
5930 Brockhampton 78414

Ben F. McDonald Public Library
4044 Greenwood Dr. 78416

Janet F. Harte Library
2629 Waldren Road 78418

Anita and W.T. Neyland Public Library (formerly Parkdale)
1230 Carmel Parkway 78411

Owen R. Hopkins Public Library
3202 McKinzie Road 78410

Outside Corpus Christi

Bell/Whittington Public Library,
2400 Memorial Pkway, Portland

Please contact us if you'd like a collection "bookery" located at your business or organization for 1 to 6 mohths.

Financial Donations

Through our partnerships we are able to purchase new books for as little as $2.00 or $3.00 - so a $25 donation starts a home library for 3 young children!

For the most part, 100% of our donations go to buy books. We have no administrative overhead, as this is a volunteer-driven project. We spend very little, $50-$150 a year on office supplies, web hosting and printing. Most of our cost of doing business is donated.

If you'd like to donate, please mail your check (payable to United Way of the Coastal Bend and mark for the Early Bird Reader/Success by 6) or donate online.

Contact: Gayle Gottlich at (361) 563-1452 or infor@earlybirdreader.org for more information.
